The cumulative crude oil production of the largest self-operated offshore oilfield has exceeded 100 million tons

The largest self-operated offshore oilfield in China, Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield, has produced over 100 million tons of crude oil cumulatively, becoming the first offshore oilfield in China to exceed 100 million tons of crude oil. This is of great significance for ensuring national energy security.

The Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield is located in the northern part of the Bohai Bay. It was put into production in 1993, with a peak annual output of over 5 million tons of crude oil and cumulative proven geological reserves of over 300 million tons of petroleum. The oilfield currently has 24 offshore platforms and 545 oil and water Wells, with a daily crude oil production of over 8,900 tons. It is the main oilfield of the Bohai Oilfield, the largest crude oil production base in China.

The Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield is located in the ice zone at 40 degrees north latitude and is a heavy oil oilfield. Its exploitation faces the dual challenges of the freezing period and poor crude oil fluidity. Cnooc adheres to the principle of 'innovation-driven', pioneering the water injection and forced production technology for heavy oil development. It adopts the reverse nine-point injection and production well grid method and introduces and innovates technologies in aspects such as process and sand control, thus overcoming the world-class technical challenge of offshore heavy oil development.

After more than 30 years of development and production, the extraction rate of the exploited blocks in Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield has reached as high as 33.9%, and the overall water content exceeds 91.8%. The oilfield personnel analyzed the existing production dynamic data and found that there are still considerable remaining oil reserves distributed in the strata. To further tap the potential of the oilfield, the oilfield personnel, in light of the 'dual high' characteristics of high production and high water content, meticulously planned and implemented the secondary adjustment project of Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield. By building one new central processing platform and two wellhead platforms, and designing and intensifying the deployment of 81 development Wells, they further released production capacity and contributed to the expansion and increased production of the old oilfield. Forge a path for the continuous stable and increased production of large oil fields.
