It was learned from the Tarim Oilfield of China National Petroleum Corporation that in the first five months of 2024, the Fuman Oilfield of the Tarim Oilfield, the largest ultra-deep oilfield in China, has been accelerating the improvement of its crude oil production capacity. Among the 15 Wells that have been completed and tested for oil, 10 have a daily output of over 100 tons, and the success rate of well development and the proportion of high-efficiency Wells have steadily increased.
Fuman Oilfield is located in the heart of the Taklimakan Desert, known as the 'Sea of Death'. It is currently the ultra-deep oilfield with the largest oil and gas resources in China. The oil reservoirs are generally buried at an ultra-deep depth of 7,500 to 10,000 meters, with an oil and gas resource volume exceeding 1 billion tons. It features world-rare characteristics such as ultra-deep, ultra-high temperature, ultra-high pressure, and high sulfur content.
Facing world-class exploration and development challenges, the Tarim Oilfield has innovatively developed geological theories, deepened the laws of oil and gas enrichment, and promoted the continuous westward expansion, eastward expansion, southward advancement and deepening of the oil-bearing range of the Fuman Oilfield. The oil and gas reserves have been increasing at peak levels year after year. Meanwhile, the technology for ultra-deep and complex drilling and completion as well as efficient production construction has been overcome, supporting the drilling of an 8,000-meter ultra-deep well in this block. The drilling period has been shortened from 'drilling one well in one year' to 'drilling two Wells in one year', with the fastest completion within 90 days.
The advancement of geological theory and engineering technology has liberated a number of deep oil and gas reservoirs, supporting the Fuman Oilfield to become the oilfield with the most ultra-deep Wells over 8,000 meters in China. A total of more than 130 ultra-deep Wells over 8,000 meters have been drilled. Wang Xiaopeng, the executive director and party secretary of the Hade Oil and Gas Production Management Area of Tarim Oilfield, introduced that on March 4, 2024, China's first 10,000-meter deep well - the Deep Earth Tako-1 well - broke the 10,000-meter mark in the Fuman Oilfield, becoming the second onshore well in the world and the first in Asia to exceed 10,000 meters in vertical depth.
In 2023, the oil and gas output of Fuman Oilfield exceeded 4 million tons, making it the largest oilfield built at a depth of 7,500 meters or more in China, with the best development benefits and the fastest production increase speed. It provides the 'Tarim Solution' for the large-scale production increase and efficient development of ultra-deep oilfields in China.
In the next step, we will accelerate the release of production capacity and promote the Fuman Oilfield to be built into a super-deep large oilfield with an annual oil and gas output of 5 million tons by 2025, continuously enhancing our confidence and strength in ensuring our energy security. Wang Xiaopeng said.
