The first domestic horizontal well fracturing operation with external fiber optic casing has been completed

On April 18th, the Underground Operations Company of Western Drilling successfully completed the fracturing operation and fracturing fluid service guarantee task of the first domestic horizontal well with external fiber optic casing - the Jinlong JLHW2039 well. This provided effective data support for the benefit development of the Junggar Basin and filled the gap in the domestic engineering technology field.

On April 18th, the Underground Operations Company of Western Drilling successfully completed the fracturing operation and fracturing fluid service guarantee task of the first domestic horizontal well with external fiber optic casing - the Jinlong JLHW2039 well. This provided effective data support for the benefit development of the Junggar Basin and filled the gap in the domestic engineering technology field.

Well JLHW2039 of Jinlong Oilfield is a development well deployed in the Jinlong 2 well area of Junggar Basin of Xinjiang Oilfield. It is also the first test well in China to successfully apply the optical fiber monitoring technology outside the bridge plug pressure distribution pipe. The fiber optic technology applied outside the casing in this well is like installing a pair of eyes inside the well. The fiber optic monitoring signals can analyze the micro-vibration signals collected during the fracturing process, predict the time and spatial location of rock fracture, calculate the geometric size and extension direction of the fracture, thereby evaluating the fracturing effect and ultimately assessing the production performance.

The successful application of the casing external optical fiber technology in Well JLHW2039 has provided strong data support for the engineering design and writing, formation fracturing simulation, and production analysis of the Junggar Basin in the future. It also offers a comprehensive reference basis for the curve changes during fracturing operations, the fracturing fluid system, and the multi-solution nature of the real-time conditions in the corresponding Wells, which is of guiding significance for the precise development of subsequent oilfield reservoirs.
